The Knights erased a 12-point deficit at home against Grossmont on Wednesday night, but weren't able to complete the comeback and lost, 61-58. It was the first time in the last seven meetings that the Griffins were able to get the best of the Knights. The last loss to Grossmont came on Feb. 19, 2010.

Bren Haley came off the bench to lead the Knights with 18 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. All of his points came from behind the 3-point line as he converted 6-of-11 from long range. Anthony Poindexter was the only other Knight to score in double figures. He had 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Knights fell behind by as many as 12 points midway through the first half, but cut Grossmont's lead to 37-31 at the half. SDCC started the second half with a 13-5 run and took their first lead, 44-42, of the second half after a crowd-pleasing dunk down the middle of the lane by Poindexter.
Grossmont regained the lead on a 3-pointer by Roberto Romero who had a game-high 20 points. The Knights got back on top, 58-57, at the 2-minute mark when Poindexter converted a layup. Romero, however, came right back with another 3-pointer to give Grossmont a 60-58 lead with 1:36 left.
Devyn Iglehart and Haley each missed 3-pointers, and Poindexter then committed a turnover with 21 seconds left. Martin Meza made 1-of-2 free throws after being fouled to give Grossmont a 61-58 advantage with 18 seconds left.
On their final possession, Haley missed a 3-point attempt and Trevor English couldn't convert a jumper off the rebound. The final horn sounded and Grossmont escaped with the win.
