Taylor Nelson scored 12 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds, while Spencer Mattox added 12 points and three steals.
Alex Wilbourn chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.
City (14-7) had a sluggish start to the game and had trouble getting into a rhythm offensively, but the Knights still found themselves ahead 17-16 with 8:35 remaining in the first half.
That's when Miramar (9-11) took advantage of the Knights' troubles and finished the half on a 17-2 run to take a 33-19 halftime lead.
The Knights shot 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, while Miramar made 48.1 percent of its shots.
Miramar opened the second half with consecutive buckets to go up by 18 points, the largest lead of the game.
It looked as though the Knights would never get going offensively, but their shots finally started going down with 7:16 remaining in the game.
With the Knights down, 58-46, a Leonard put-back sparked a 17-2 run that was capped off by a Mattox jumper that put the Knights ahead, 63-60.
Jonathan Smith, who had a terrific game off the bench for City with eight points and five rebounds, hit two free throws with 27 seconds left to give the Knights a 67-62 lead.
After a pair of Miramar free throws, and two missed free throws on the other end by Mattox, the Jets had one last chance to tie, but a half-court shot fell well-short.
The Knights begin PCAC South play on Friday, Jan. 22 at Cuyamaca.
