The night got off to a great start with freshman forward Steven Dreyfuss singing an excellent rendition of the Star Spangled Banner that fired up his teammates.
It only got better for the Knights once the ball was tipped as they jumped out to a 16-2 lead and were in complete control by halftime with a 44-16 advantage.
Sophomore guard Taylor Nelson scored 17 of his game-high 22 points in the first half, including 4-of-5 from the three-point line.
City shot 51.6 percent from the floor in the first half, while holding Imperial Valley to 22.6 percent. Allen had six blocks in the half, including one on a three-point attempt.
The second half was more of the same with SDCC continuing to pour it on while playing tough defense.
Nate Queen put in 16 of his 17 points in the second half and Romario Wilson scored all 14 of his points in the second half.
The Knights had their best shooting performance of the season, making 34-of-56 shots (60.7 percent). They also made 8-of-14 three-pointers (57.1 percent)
Allen's nine blocks surpassed Malcolm Thomas' record of eight blocks in a game back in the 2008-09 season.
The victory was the Knights' fourth in a row, which matches their longest win streak of the season.
With Southwestern's loss tonight, the Knights have moved into sole possession of first place in the conference.
The Knights will host Southwestern on Wednesday, February 3 at 5:00 p.m. It is the second game of a four-game home stand.
