San Diego City's men's basketball team has advanced to a CCCAA Southern California regional final after getting past 20-seed Long Beach City, 88-72, in the second round on Thursday night. The 4-seeded Knights (26-3), who have now won 17 in a row, will host 21-seed MiraCosta on Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. for a chance to reach the state championship quarterfinals for the third time in the last five seasons.

The San Diego City men's basketball team is set to host a second round California Community College Athletic Association regional playoff on Thursday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The Knights have been seeded No. 4 and will face the winner of No. 13 Irvine Valley (18-10) and No. 20 Long Beach City (17-11) who will play in the first round on Tuesday, March 1.

Ogugua's Buzzer Beater Clinches PCAC Championship!

The Knights trailed by 10 points with 2:06 remaining, but they put together a furious rally by forcing five MiraCosta turnovers down the stretch and then won the game, 75-73, on a Jonathan Ogugua off-balance jumper as time expired. The win clinched the 2022 PCAC championship, City's ninth since 2001, as the Knights remained undefeated in conference play at 13-0.

San Diego City held a slight 35-32 halftime lead and then outscored Southwestern by 14 points in the second half to earn its ninth consecutive victory, 76-59, to improve to 18-3 overall and 9-0 in the PCAC. City Starts With a 32-2 Run in Blowout Win Over Mesa

San Diego City had an remarkable start against Mesa on Friday by scoring the game's first 13 points and then getting out to a 32-2 lead eight minutes in as they cruised to a 97-62 home victory over Mesa (5-3, 0-1 PCAC) to improve to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in the PCAC. Jonathan Ogugua led City with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

Knights Advance to Fullerton Tourney Title Game, But Fall to Sequoias

After winning last week's Grossmont tournament championship, the No. 7 Knights won the first two games at the Fullerton College tournament to make it to another title game, but ultimately fell to No. 14 Sequioias, 83-65. Jonathan Ogugua, who is averaging 18 points per game (tied for 21st in Calif.), led the Knights with 16 points, while Jackson Larsen provided 14 points and four rebounds off the bench in the loss that ended their 5-game win streak.

San Diego City's men's basketball team opened its 2021-22 campaign at the Gehler Memorial Tournament (Miramar College) on Thursday and advanced to the championship game after defeating Copper Mountain and MiraCosta, but fell to the hosts, 62-55, in the title game.
