San Diego City will open the 2025-26 season as the No. 14-ranked team in the state and the No. 7 team in Southern California according to the preseason CCCMBCA poll. The Knights play their season opener at home on Nov. 1 against No. 8 East Los Angeles with the tipoff scheduled for 3 p.m.
San Diego City won its second consecutive Pacific Coast Athletic Conference championship last season with a 15-1 PCAC record. The Knights went 23-6 overall in 2024-25, which became the fifth straight season with at least 23 victories.
Head Coach Mitch Charlens, now in his 20th season and needing only two more wins to reach 400, has led the Knights to 10 straight postseason appearances and a state championship in 2017.
He has five returning players, including Junior Camacho, Micah Brickner, and Abraham Kamano who all played big roles last season. Jason Chambers and Luke Hecht are also returning and will look to expand their roles this season.
City will have a tough schedule to begin the season just as they did a year ago with four of their first six games against teams who made the preseason top-20.
After the season opener against No. 8 East L.A., the Knights will face Yuba and No. 4 West Valley at Fullerton College on Nov. 6 and 7, respectively.
They will then play Barstow, No. 9 San Jose City, and No. 18 Allan Hancock, all at the Allan Hancock Home Motors Tournament from Nov. 21-23.
All San Diego City home games will be live-streamed on Hudl.
