San Diego City has jumped into the state top-20 with a No. 14 ranking in the latest CCCSIA men's soccer poll released on Sept. 30.
This is the first time the Knights have been ranked among the state's top teams since 2016 when they earned the No. 13 spot midway through that season after a 7-1-4 start.
This year, the Knights are off to another great start with an overall record of 5-2-3.
They defeated last season's state champions, and current No. 10, Cuyamaca in a thriller last Friday.
City, however, suffered a 2-1 home loss to Mesa on Tuesday to bring their PCAC record to 1-1. It was the Knights' first loss to a 3C2A team.
Their only other loss was to Arizona Western in the season opener.
San Diego City will be on the road at Imperial Valley on Friday at 4:30 p.m. and will be back on their home field on Tuesday, Oct. 7 vs. Southwestern at 1 p.m.
