Hunter Lynch Named ITA Sophomore of the Year!
San Diego City sophomore Hunter Lynch was named as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Sophomore Player of the Year at the 3C2A championship banquet, held in Oxnard, Calif.
San Diego City sophomore Hunter Lynch was named as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Sophomore Player of the Year at the 3C2A championship banquet, held in Oxnard, Calif. on April 22.
Lynch, who was also chosen as the IEAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, went 30-0 in all 3C2A matches this season. He won all 15 of his singles matches, mostly at the No. 1 position, which includes four wins to claim the IEAC singles championship.
He also went 15-0 in doubles with his twin brother Thomas Lynch. They won all three matches at the IEAC tournament to earn the doubles championship.
In his two seasons at San Diego City, Lynch has helped the Knights go 16-0 in conference play to win back-to-back IEAC championships.
Lynch, along with his brother Thomas, were named to the 2025 ITA 3C2A All-America Team in 2025 after finishing the season as the No. 4 ranked duo in the state.
They are currently ranked No. 2 in the state as they head into the 3C2A championship tournament.
In singles, Hunter Lynch is currently ranked No. 3 in the state.
