Lopez With a Hat Trick in Shutout Win
Freshman forward Grecia Lopez scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of Tuesday's game and added a third in the second half as she recorded her first hat trick in City's 5-0 home win over Cuyamaca. It was the second straight shutout to improve the Knights' record to 2-1 in the PCAC and 3-2 overall.

Freshman forward Grecia Lopez scored two goals in the first 12 minutes of Tuesday's game and added a third in the second half as she recorded her first hat trick in City's 5-0 home win over Cuyamaca. It was the second straight shutout to improve the Knights' record to 2-1 in the PCAC and 3-2 overall.
The Knights got off to a tremendous start by scoring three times within the first 12 minutes to essentially put the game out of reach.
In the sixth minute, Hailey Zinga dribbled into the box from the right side and crossed the ball over to Lopez who tapped in her first goal of the day.
Five minutes later, Christiana Macias took a shot from 18 yards out, which was saved, but Jaslene Martinez was well-positioned in front of Cuyamaca's keeper to put in the rebound.
Lopez scored her second of the game after booting in a 25-yard lob pass from Maya Beltran.
San Diego City was able to tack on a fourth goal late in the first half when Briseis Gutierrez pounced on a rebound off Raniyah Curry's saved shot.
The Knights, who outshot Cuyamaca 21-1, got one final goal from Lopez in the 68th minute. Juliette Salgado Garcia kept the ball away from a Cuyamaca defender and fed the ball over to Lopez who hit the back of the net on an 18-yard strike.
City will play its first conference away game on Friday at Mesa with a 3 p.m. kickoff.
