Competing in their second state championship meet in three years, the Knights had multiple runners who set or tied personal records at the Woodward Park 5k course in Fresno, including sophomores Isabelle Dalton and Diandra Jara. As they've done all season, they were the first two City runners to cross the finish line to help the team place 21st.
Led by the dynamic duo of sophomores Isabelle Dalton and Diandra Jara, the Knights placed high enough at the Southern California regional championship to qualify for the state championship meet for the second time in three years.
Isabelle Dalton was City's top finisher for the first time this season as she and Deandra Jara led the Knights to a third place result at the PCAC championship. Both Dalton and Jara finished in the top-15 to earn All-PCAC honors.
Among a tough field that included the top three ranked teams in the state and a Division I team (USD), the Knights competed well at the Manny Bautista XC Invite hosted by Mesa College and took sixth place out of 10 teams.
The first 5CTCA poll was released this week and the Knights made it on the list as the No. 15 team in Southern California after racing to two top-3 finishes in their first three meets of the season. It's the first time since 2021 that City has been ranked.
Diandra Jara and Isabelle Dalton finished the Coach Downey Classic 5k course in fifth and sixth place, respectively, to help the Knights earn second place for the second consecutive year. City had four runners place in the top-25, including Joscelyn Silva (22nd) and Kai Bathea (25th).
The Knights were back on course for the second consecutive week as they raced at Cal State San Bernardino's Coyote Challenge with sophomore Diandra Jara leading the team with a 24th place finish (20:53) and sophomore Isabelle Dalton not far behind her with a 28th place finish (21:28).
Led by sophomores Diandra Jara and Isabelle Dalton who finished fourth and sixth, respectively, the Knights placed third at the San Diego XC Kickoff on Friday morning. It was the largest field in the meet's 3-year history, which the Knights have co-hosted with Cuyamaca.
