Griffin With 31 pts & 14 Reb in 6th Straight PCAC Win

San Diego City pulled away with a 25-6 run in the final eight minutes to turn a tie game into an 89-70 home victory over MiraCosta on Friday night. Freshman Dylan Griffin tied a career-high with 31 points on 12-of-16 shooting and brought down a career-high 14 rebounds to help the Knights remain an undefeated 6-0 in PCAC play.

The Knights have won four straight to start 2026 and improved to 13-5 overall. They hold a one-game lead over second-place Palomar in the conference standings with their first matchup coming up next Friday at Harry West Gym.

Junior Camacho went 9-for-16, including two 3-pointers, en route to tying his career-high with 24 points.

Larry Lewis III led the bench effort with 12 points and seven rebounds as the Knights' reserves outscored MiraCosta's 31-16. 

San Diego City went up by 11 in the first half, but MiraCosta got within three at halftime and eventually took a 57-55 lead on Logan Ardent's fourth 3-pointer. 

The game was notched at 64-64 with 8:21 left and looking like it would be tight the rest of the way, but the Knights had other ideas. 

They kept attacking the the paint and scored nine straight. After a made free throw by MiraCosta, the Knights continued the onslaught while also turning up the intensity on defense. 

The result was a 15-1 spurt over a 5-minute stretch and eventually a 25-6 run in the last eight minutes. 

MiraCosta was held to 2-for-12 shooting and forced into four turnovers during that span. 

San Diego City has two tough games coming up next week as they head to Southwestern on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Knights will have their hands full with Southwestern's Derek Edmond who leads the state with 25.7 points per game. 

The Knights will then host No. 17 Palomar on Friday at 5 p.m.
